245 - Between Time

January 8, 2002

Winter can be a difficult time for me. It's not that I leave the house that much more in the warmer months. And this year, my part of the country has somehow been spared the snow and experienced sunny, temperate days. I think it is the rut I can fall into this time of year. Time to break out again.

Two Hundred Forty-Five

Between Time

Sometimes I am suspended, Holy One,
Drifting in my customary place,
Skirting mindfulness with habit;
Help me to focus my intention.

I am like the winter birds,
Cloaked in dull feathers
To hide against the barren ground;
Touch me again with brightness.

In this seclusion, my spirit searches;
Open my mind to new exploration
As my heart is opened to You,
As my words clarify and soar again.
