I want to thank everyone who has offered prayers for Edward Abelson. I posted a prayer request here a couple of weeks ago when he was fighting for his life. He has survived meningitis, with 14 abscesses on his brain. He is now beginning the long road of recovery. The particular bacteria which is growing in his brain is relatively rare, and has about a 1% survival rate. We are certain that his survival is a direct result of the intercession of prayer, and it seems that there must be a reason he has been given another chance at life.

Eddie is an individual who has struggled with a lifetime of drug addiction and many personal tragedies. He is 42 years old, and has been clean from drug abuse during the past few years, but has had a very difficult time creating a stable home for himself and his family. If he had died in that intensive care unit, it would have been a bitter end to a bitter life. Instead he is being given a new world. He will have to work very hard for a long time to re-learn the simplest skills - walking, talking, even eating. But the basic value of his life has been reaffirmed by this experience. His healing is now possible on a deeper level than if he had never been ill. I do not understand this paradox, but I cannot deny the growth that I see all around us, growth that has sprung from the suffering.

His family has been drawn closer together in our attempts to help him recover. We are all walking in the light of the miracle of his survival, more aware of how precious all our lives truly are. Thank you again for your prayers - I want you to know the joy and the faith we feel manifested from those prayers. We will keep you in our hearts always, and will be regulars on this site, to be sure that the gift of prayers for those who need healing is always available to those in need.

I'm very glad to hear your friends is recovering. I would like to also ask for prayer for I've been having some very bad eye problems for about a month and a half. Thankx so much.
