Psalms and the Healing Process

HealingPsalm.com Discusion Board: Psalms and the Healing Process

By
Webmaster (Admin) on Thursday, September 24, 1998 - 01:47 am:

Welcome to HealingPsalm.com

This is a place for people of all faiths to find resources for prayer and spiritual support in times of illness.

We invite you to share your stories about your experiences with prayer and illness. We invite you to post names of people who are ill and in need of prayer. We invite you to comment on the modern psalms by Debbie Perlman that are presented here.

HealingPsalm.com believes that prayer is a valuable adjunct to appropriate medical treatment. Prayer supports us. It recognizes that healing doesn't always mean curing. Sometimes healing helps us find ways of achieving peace
with our limitations.

The Hebrew word 'shalom' is commonly translated as 'peace.' But it also means wholeness and completeness. The Hebrew prayer for healing asks for 'refuah ha-guf' a healing of body; 'refuah ha-nefesh' - a healing of spirit; 'refuah sh'lemah' - a complete healing.

HealingPsalm.com believes that prayer can help us achieve that place where we feel comfort and
assurance.

I have a niece (named Thelma) who was paralized in 1997 at the age of 17 from bacterial meningitis. Her faith in God sustained her through many difficult periods of adjustments and stays in various hospitals. She graduated in June 1998 from high school located in Sandy Springs, Georgia (outside of Atlanta,Georgia). I am requesting your prayers and if you have time please e-mail her a few words of encouragement. At the present time there is a drug that shows promise but due to FDA standards it maybe pulled from the market in the near future. Her e-mail address is(siskmcgh@bellsouth.net). Two years ago, my husband walked out on me, and our 3 children. I had no job, no money, and no place to live. God has blessed me with a job to meet the needs for my family and a nice place to stay. He also has made a way for me to go to college and get a better education. He has healed my broken heart, i don't have ill feeling against my husband. But god has given me purpose. Hallelujah!

My brother, 38 year old, Barry Brumer (Binyamin ben Tziril v Yonaton) father to 20 month old Matthew and
husband to Marsha, is battling stomach cancer. If everyone who reads this posting could add him to your
prayers, say a mishaberach for a refuah sh'lemah,
(a complete healing) prayer for him, my family and I would appreciate your support. I really believe in the power of prayer to help make a change.

Im brachot (with blessings).

Thank you for the blessings we have been given. We have celebrated our daughter's Bat Mitzvah with her Father at my side. He continues to find courage and fight his cancer with incredible strength and determination. We pray that he will be able to celebrate our son's confirmation later this Spring. We are planning to celebrate Passover together in a few weeks. Passover celebrates freedom, may everyone be free from the bondage of their illness and find freedom with it's celebration. We remember all in our prayer's.

Wishing everyone, Shalom,

Carol

By Kathryn Hooper (Kathryn) on Tuesday, March 30, 1999 - 07:16 pm:

Hello:
My name is Kathryn, and I am asking prayer for my Dad who is in Intensive Care, my Uncle Pat (Dad's older brother) who suffered a stroke on March 11 and my Grandfather, who also suffered a stroke on March 19. Our entire family has drawn strength from each other and we are praying for continued success for my Uncle Pat and that my dad will pull through fast and be back home soon. My grandfather is showing no signs of improvement from the stroke, and we are praying for strength for him and for peace. He is nearly 90 years old and has always had great strength, he is really tired, but eager to go back home, but it doesn't look like that will be possible. We are asking for prayer for all of us, strength, peace and good health as well as we care for our family.

Again, I too wish everyone, Shalom.

Kathryn

To everyone who has been so kind as to send a message:

Your words about Healing Psalms and about your faith inspires me and encourages me to continue writing and sharing my words with you.

Please always send us the names of your loved ones and then, if possible, keep us up to date. Sometimes, I know, our prayers don't result in the kind of physical healing that we hope for. But we can also feel strength from one another, and know that we aren't alone as we face adversity. And we also know that even when we pray by ourselves we are not alone, because God is on the listening end.

As the earth warms to spring, I pray that all our hearts will know the warmth of human kindness and the support of this special electronic community.

B'shalom, Debbie

I would like prayer for my friend Jean-Pierre who is entering hospital for lung cancer surgery at beginning of November. He is having one lung removed. It is a recurrence of cancer which was originally diagnosed a few years ago. I would like prayer that he starts to seek G-d for comfort and healing and that G-d allow him to recuperate well from the surgery and that his body, mind and spirit are brought into balance and good health.

By Gerry Elman on Sunday, November 14, 1999 - 11:01 am:

I found this BBS when I searched for the term "mishaberach." My mother Lucille Elman, has suffered a massive stroke. Her husband, three children (including me) and two adult grandchildren (my son & daughter) are by her side, and she seems to be making remarkable progress. We have been saying various prayers for and with her, but I didn't have the text of the traditional mishaberach prayer, so I figured I'd look on the Internet.

Those who read this note are invited to add Lucille to your prayers.

Thanks to this Webmaster for providing this forum of support and spiritual energy.

I would like to be prayed for, due to this illness of depression that constantly try to harbor over me at anytime, I'am a born again saint that I continue to rebuke the enemy that try to place that strong hold on my life to attempt to stop God's work to be performed by me.

By Louise on Saturday, January 11, 1997 - 06:00 am:

Hello,
I contracted M.E., a chronic illness, around 1988 which, since worsening in 1991, has necessitated me spending approx 90% of my life in bed-rest and isolation. At one stage I lost just about everything in my life that I considered valuable and expressive of who I was-- including friends, career, home and other possessions, hobbies and abilities-- even some family members deserted me.

In the past 5 years, with God's help, I have managed to stabilise the illness and make a new life for myself, so that although I live with the same physical limitations there is a new joy and peace budding within me.

However I would dearly love to be physically healed and ask that you pray for me. Thankyou-- and shalom to all,

Louise (Dvorah bat Avraham avienu)

I have retinal vein occlusion of the right eye. I am undergoing medical treatment, but recently I discovered a new procedure on the internet that offered the best and convincing treatment available currently. So I sent a message to the doctors about the cost of the new treatment. Unfortunately I cannot affort the cost which is close to $9000.00. Besides I have to travel to the US from my country Ghana. I cannot afford the cost, but I know the Lord can heal me. Please pray earnestly to the Lord for me to be healed. I know that Jesus is able.

My wife Barbara has been diagnosed with overine cancer in May 2001. We have decided to trust God for her complete healing without the route of surgery. We continue to trust God daily and we are seeing signs of complete recovery. During these times we learn to put our complete trust in the Lord and to be obedient to him. We can't wait to declare complete recovery. We do believe that by the stripes of Jesus we are healed. Please join us in praying on her behalf. I will keep you informed of the progress.

By Sheila on Sunday, August 11, 2002 - 05:36 pm:

Hello
My name is Sheila
I just found out in November my Husband Grant has Cancer, They told me there was nothing more they can do for him so they have sent him home to die and it is very hard on me for you see we've been married for 32 Years. He only weighs about 70 pounds if that.He is now on liquid Morphine plus the pills as well.We have two Sons and a Adopted Daughter they have no idea as to how sick their father is, He also has two daughters from his first marriage and they don't even care either which I think this is very cold hearted for his daughters to be like this all they are after is what they can get their hands on.
I have been taking care of him since he left the hospital.I lost my brother to Aids about a year ago and I was there for him when crossed over to the other side, and I will do the same for my husband Grant, he is only 52 years old and to me that is still young in my books.I will keep everyone in my Native Prayers and in my thoughts each and everyday.

Yours truly

Sheila

By Rachael on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 - 01:15 am:

Dear fellow brothers and sisters,
I have witnessed the good works that Psalms have brought to close dear friends of mine. I was encouraged by a close friend and preacher to do them a favor. That favor turned into a blessing. Read Psalms 103 for 103 days and you will not only realize what God has blessed us with, but that pain that you or I may be suffering will be lifted.
P.S. I ask that everyone who reads this to please keep my co-worker in your prayers. Denny was baptized Monday and will need the strength for the upcoming temptations that will come his way. We won him over and I know the devil is going to try anything he can to get him back. Thank you in advance.

Love,
Rachael
